Ryley Carlock & Applewhite Welcomes Diversity Writing Intern

Ryley Carlock & Applewhite is pleased to welcome Chandler Smith as the firm’s Diversity Legal Writing Program Intern for 2021. The Diversity Legal Writing Program creates opportunities for diverse and minority law students at Arizona State University and the University of Arizona to gain practical writing and research experience while working alongside practicing lawyers at top law firms in the state.

“We are thrilled to have Chandler join our firm as part of this scholarship program,” said Shareholder Jason L. Cassidy, who sits on the firm’s Diversity Committee and will mentor Smith throughout her time at the firm. “Chandler’s drive and passion for the law shone through in both her application and interview, and we look forward to working with her as she hones her writing and research skills while working on actual legal matters.”

Smith is a second-year law student at ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, expected to earn her J.D. in May 2022. She is President of the Black Law Students Association and a staff writer on the Arizona State Law Journal. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from William & Mary in Virginia, where she served as Team Captain on the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Team.
