Firm Assists Plan Administrators Avoid DOL Penalty

The firm recently received U.S. Department of Labor notice stating that the agency had considered and accepted in full a "statement of reasonable cause" the law firm had designed on behalf of its client, the Administrator of a Profit Sharing Plan, and the arguments contained in the statement. The DOL waived 100% of an asserted six figure penalty imposed on the client. The arguments in the statement of reasonable cause were developed and drafted by Tara Pauls and Chris Siegle in their capacity as counsel to the Plan Administrators of the Profit Sharing Plan.
